The DMIS Part 2 standard defines three groups of interfaces, each providing a
communications pathway connecting different parts of a measurement system. These
serve to integrate third party metrology applications, and to support inspection
equipment from different vendors. The DOT product architecture comprises four
distinct components, each interoperating via these standardized DMIS Part 2 APIs.
